About the event
Welcome to Mana Mayhem an event centered around one of the toughest shiny hunts in all of pokemon, the hunt for shiny manaphy.
A legitimate shiny Manaphy with your own OT has only ever been huntable in gen 4 with an egg received from original pokemon ranger (limited to one per cardridge) or through an event distribution in pokemon ranger shadow of Almia or pokemon ranger guardian signs.
The egg received on a gen 4 game is programmed to NEVER be shiny for the one that received it, however due to how eggs in gen 4 work this left a loophole: another trainer could hatch it shiny if that trainer had the right TID and SID (trainer id and secret id) for that particular egg to be shiny.
The process of this hunt went as follows: Start a new game file to get a fresh set of TID and SID, play up to a point where you can first trade and catch a random wild pokemon, then trade over that pokemon to receive the egg and check if the egg was shiny. If the egg isn't shiny the process has to be repeated with another new file.
There is actually another way to hunt manaphy, as this process of starting a new file and trading takes a lot of time people within the community figured out a way to skip that process entirely using arbitrary code execution also known as ACE. Using this complex method within the game itself (using no outside tools or programs) a postman npc is spawned within all poke marts that generates a new SID and TID with the click of a button.
The hunt remains full odds with this method and the manaphy eggs themselves remain unchanged, the only thing that changes is the length of your resets as it skips having to create a new file and trading the egg.
As the set-up is complicated and long (and bank is closing soon) we have prepared files for both diamond and pearl with everything already prepared, which includes the ACE set-up, the postman ace, the TID SID randomizer and 5 legitimate eggs collected from (actual hardware) pokemon ranger. Notes:
- Please note that Manaphy will NEVER be shiny on the hatch screen, you always need to check your party.
- Please read the readme files for diamond and pearl included in the zip (if there are questions message JadeyAestralVT)
- If you want your own OT/name you need to change that in PKhex
- IMPORTANT: If you use a controller mod to control multiple games at once the frames will line up and you get the same TID/SID. To fix this, do an extra postman re-roll on the second file (repeat this step +1 for every other files depending on how many instances you have) and save. This way the starting point will be different next reset and all files will no longer get the same roll <3
