I was leaving a hyperspace battle zone on Jaune Street near Area 8. A shiny pidgey in the tree flew away. I didn’t hear the sound effect but saw the sparkles around it :(

Failed while playing early game (first few weeks of release). Only had a handful of poke balls when it appeared and it broke out.

As a kid when Gen 2 was out, I was farming Magnemite trying to get metal coats. I saw a magnemite that had a weird animation but didn’t know why. I now realize it was a shiny. I don’t remember if I caught it (dead battery). Likely not since I was using Thief on a high level Pokémon.

Full odds, non-event, not from a den that was known to be shiny. Occurred not long after initial release of game. Previously used my only master ball on a g-max charizard, so when I tried to catch this it broke out of whatever ball I tried.

I was chain fishing for something else and this appeared. I used false swipe and it used a move that caused recoil and killed itself. This is both a phase and a fail.

I flew to the Pokemon center on Vert street, by the train station, to do the Zeaora quest. I healed and as soon as I stepped towards the billboard I heard the shiny sparkle sound. I looked around and couldn’t find the pokemon on the ground, on lamps, or any roofs. It must have been something that runs easily. I waited for a while and the only pokemon to respawn were two Fletchling, so the shiny must have been one of them.

The guaranteed shiny from the lvl 3 dragon donut. While I was hunting Latios I messed up. I didn’t realize catching a Pokemon caused an autosave. I caught Latios thinking I could reset and verify the stats change with each reset (and that I was re-rolling shinies) but realized that an autosave occured. I put down multiple hard saves prior to this. I tried to load a backup thinking I’d restart at a point after I caught shiny Noivern but before the Latios autosave. Instead I found myself in Lumiose without my Noivern, erased by my own hands.
